Beverly Golf & Tennis Club Beverly, MA

The Beverly Golf & Tennis Clubhouse is a municipally-owned country club originally constructed by the United Show Manufacturing Company as an amenity for its employees. The building is a shining example of the Tudor Revival that swept the United States around the turn of the 20th century, characterized by exposed gable brackets, stucco cladding, and an elegant wraparound porch.

SSV was engaged by the City of Beverly in 2020 to assess and document the building, provide recommendations for the treatment of deficiencies, and prepare construction documents for the building’s eventual restoration. Construction is slated to begin in 2022 and will involve structural reinforcement, comprehensive replacement of all mechanical systems, reorganization of interior spaces, extensive finish updates, replacement and restoration of historic wood windows, and construction of a large veranda addition at the rear. The landscape will also be transformed as part of the overall rejuvenation of the property.
