Saint Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church Peabody, MA
St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church was established in 1905 by a group of Greek immigrants drawn to Peabody, Massachusetts, by the leather industry. Designed by an unknown architect, the church' second home was completed in 1917. A modified “cross-in-square” plan, the handsome church building exhibits the characteristic form and features of Greek Orthodox architecture.
Our firm was engaged in 2012 to perform a comprehensive conditions assessment of the building with special focus on the bell towers, where persistent leaks had damaged their structural integrity and harmed finishes in the sanctuary vaults below. The report provided prioritized treatment recommendations for stabilization and preservation and explored options for roof replacement.
